Every room as a rectangle, triangle, circle or L, footed into one job and priced at what you typed
Type each room as one of four shapes - rectangle, triangle, circle or L-shape - and the page foots every area into one job total, adds the allowance you type and prices it at the unit price you type.
Still being filled in: the first, second, third and fourth rooms are missing a dimension their own shape needs, so no job total, no quantity to order and no cost is figured yet.
The 4 shapes this page tells apart - rectangle, triangle, circle, L-shape - carry their own formulas in section D, and no figure here is computed until every live room carries its own shape's measurements.
AThe rooms you measured
Only hold one total square footage, off a listing, a lease or an earlier takeoff? This page builds a total up out of rooms and cannot run that backwards, and a dimension nobody measured is not a figure it will print: walk the rooms and type each one's own shape and figures. To put an allowance and a price on a total you already trust, do that arithmetic yourself - add the total times your allowance percent, divided by 100, to the total, then multiply by your own unit price per square foot.
First room: Living room
Second room: Bay window alcove
Third room: Round bed
Fourth room: Kitchen and hall
Fifth room
Sixth room
Seventh room
Eighth room
Both boxes ship empty: this page holds no allowance and no price of its own. Every box is read at its own step and inside the range it shows, and a figure typed outside that range is read at the nearer end, which the glance says in words.

CEvery figure, worked
Nothing is worked here yet: a room is worked on this list once it carries the measurements its own shape needs.
DThe four shapes, and how each area is got
An L-shape is taken as its enclosing rectangle less the notch cut out of it, so a notch as large as the room is reported as an impossible room and never as a negative area.
EWhat this page will not tell you
It measures and never specifies: no product, brand, grade, thickness, pattern, adhesive, underlay or supplier, no claim that a material suits a room, no usual or recommended allowance, price or coverage of its own, no fitting method, and no judgement about what a job should cost or whether a quote is fair.
Nothing is stored and no figure you type leaves your browser. The page does report up to three cookie-free counts of its own use to events.otherworldlabs.com, one as it opens, one as the block that offers the sheet comes into view and one as the buy link is clicked. Each count carries this page's address and an id that lasts the one visit, and the first also carries the host you arrived from where there is one. None of them carries a measurement, an allowance, a price or a word you typed. The arithmetic is published as JSON, with the formulas, the states and a worked takeoff, at api.json.
Printed from otherworldlabs.com/square-footage-by-room/ - every figure on this sheet is computed from the dimensions typed on the page, as the page read them.
FThe room-by-room area and material sheet
The page is the arithmetic. The workbook is what the order is placed from and what you keep: a line for each room on each job, carrying the shape and the dimensions as you typed them, the area each one comes to, the job footed, your allowance written as typed and as applied, the quantity to order and its cost at your own unit price. Thirty room lines against the eight cards here, a reference-and-date column nobody fills but you, and every figure a live formula with no pasted value, so a room re-measured re-foots the job in place. It is the record of what was ordered, for which rooms, on what allowance, for the day a delivery turns out short.
